A segunda opção é bem possível, verifique seu karma.
Se após resolver isso continuar, verifique se tudo está bem encaixado e tal, pois não faz sentido, tanto faz a unidade ser HD, SSD, unidade ótica, pois a SATA é a mesma, então tudo sussa.
ou vc pode testar isso aqui que vi numa rápida busca no google em inglês:

> computer management > storage : disk management

need to make active by right clicking on window that represents then drive
then make active partition(drive)
select to create partition (if applicable)
select format (if applicable)
wait and drive will change status to "healthy" at top windows and your drive/data will now be accessible and visible in 'My Computer'
